August 29, 1991 - Decree on the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site.

November 21, 1990 - The Supreme Economic Council was established by Decree of the Head of State, which marked the beginning of the development of a market economy.

October 25, 1990. The day when the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Republic, which became the starting point on the path to Independence.

On April 24, 1990, the Supreme Council elected the First President of the Kazakh SSR, Nursultan Nazarbayev

The 1st Congress of People's Deputies of the USSR in 1989 was broadcast on All-Union television without any censorship. Genuine excitement and significant revival in the hall was caused by the speech of People's Deputy Nursultan Nazarbayev. Before him, no one had dared to broadcast the real problems of the Union republics from the rostrum.

1986-1991 - about 150 internal conflicts, 20 of which were accompanied by human casualties. Demonstrations, protesting delegations from the Union republics. They demanded freedom... The strike also took place in Karaganda.
