It happened on March 31st, 2021 within the framework of the Summit of Turkic Speaking States Leaders. At that time the Turkestan Declaration was adopted, the provisions of which officially defined the status of Turkestan for the Turkic world.

Turkestan is 15 centuries of official history, 10 largest empires, great rulers and wars, revolutionary discoveries and inventions, its own special philosophy, unique culture. The decision of Nursultan Nazarbayev to give the city the status of a regional center gave a powerful impetus to the development of Turkestan. Now new buildings here border on excavations of ancient settlements, the past is intertwined with the present literally everywhere. Once a provincial town has been transformed and gained the outlines of a modern metropolis. Day by day, unique buildings, modern facilities and new houses are built in the ancient town, streets are expanded, squares and parks are laid out.
